This orchid is often confused with, and even sold as Dendrochilum tenellum but it is just a little bigger and the flower spikes are a little longer. The tiny flowers range from pale brown to pinkish. The pink specimens are very desirable. Like Ddc tenellum, it needs to be grown into a specimen size to really appreciate its delicate beauty. It is not widely available in Australia but does exist in several collections.
This orchid, like most Dendrochilums, comes from the mossy cloud forests of the Philippines where it grows on mossy tree trunks and branches.
Negatives: It requires a glasshouse to maintain the warm and moisture in cooler zones.
Rating: ♦♦♦♦♦ It makes a special specimen-sized grass-like clump.
