This is one of the cool growing beautiful white Coelogynes that everyone should try. The pureness of the white and the brilliance of the orange/yellow markings are very eye-catching. It flowers so freely and has its erect spikes holding the display up nicely for all to admire over a long period. As if that is not enough, this Coelogyne is the most fragrant of them all.
Like the other white flowering Coelogynes, it comes from Nepal, Bhutan, upper Burma and the Himalayas where it grows on trees or mossy rocks at around 2000 metres.
Negatives: This is one of the few about which I can't think of a negative. Perhaps, one could wish for larger flowers!
Rating: ♦♦♦♦♦ .Highly recommended because of its neat size, beautiful flowers and beautiful, strong perfume.
Sometimes sold as: Coelogyne ochracea
Varieties: None known
Hybrids: Surprisingly, there are none registered, although I have heard of a Coelogyne lawrenceana x Coelogyne nitida.
